SUNY Binghamton (Binghamton), located in Binghamton, New York, is the highest ranked public university in the region. Binghamton was founded in 1946 and both its size and prestige have increased since then. Today Binghamton enrolls 11,515 undergraduates and 2,920 graduate students, and is part of the (unofficial) "Public Ivy League."
Campus Life
Of the 13 political student groups on campus, seven are liberal and six are right-leaning.
The liberal student groups are Campus Climate Challenge; College Democrats; Democracy Matters, an all-purpose liberal organization; Muslim Students' Association; NYPIRG; The Free Press, a liberal student newspaper; and The Right Side of History Campaign, a gay-straight alliance group.
The six right-leaning groups are the Binghamton Libertarians; Binghamton Review, a conservative student newspaper; Binghamton Zionist Organization; College Republicans; Friends of the Second Amendment; and Students for the Preservation of Western Culture. The italicized groups are affiliated with CampusReform.org's Campus Leadership Program, which provides students advice, assistance, and support.
